Friday, October 23, 2009 at 03:10PM The class subject was florals and I started this demo of hollyhocks. My palette was aureolin, quinacridone gold, cerulean blue, french ultramarine blue, sap green and permanent rose.

Friday, October 16, 2009 at 04:20PM This is Michael our model for tonight's Fort Collins Portrait Painters. I stepped out and worked on a new paper, 300lb arches hot press and a new color palette.

Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 06:14PM This painting was started wet on wet, in order to create soft edges and blended colors. After it began to dry, the background was painted in as a darker negative shape behind the golden lit bushes. The palette was very simple, burnt sienna, french ultramarine blue and quinacridone gold.

Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 08:02PM The Monday watercolor class spent the afternoon enjoying this spectacular garden on the Colorado State University campus. The challenge was simplifying all this wonderful color. This is the mid staged demo I was working on.
Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 07:51PM We enjoyed a beautiful fall day painting at The Gardens on Spring Creek last Saturday. This is the demo I started using three colors, rose madder, raw sienna and french ultramarine blue. I also pulled out the Ace "tree brush", a 1/2" natural bristle brush that lets you get random color mixing and loose brush work.

Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 05:10PM Today is a worldwide SketchCrawl. I will report in on the total number of crawlers as the sun sets. There were 4 of us that sketched at the Northern Colorado Feeders Supply on Linden Street. These are a couple of scenes I captured this morning.

Monday, September 14, 2009 at 04:38PM Today we had a fall morning paint out in my own backyard! How exciting to know one does not have to travel a great distance to pull out the paints! Remember location, location, location is closer than you think!

Monday, August 31, 2009 at 06:35PM We had a class of seven artists painting their way around the gardens this past Saturday. This is my quick start demo of some little pincushion flowers.

Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 06:23PM I painted with WOW (women of watercolor) yesterday in Breckenridge, Colorado. We had a fun, yet challenging day capturing the wranglers, trail riders and horses! Here are a couple of buddies waiting their turn for a little single file riding.
