Wednesdays Portrait

This portrait is first drawn with a HB mechanical pencil on 200lb Bockingford watercolor paper. I applied the watercolor, then added more pencil detail. I find it helpful to try different approaches during our portrait time. Enjoy!

FOCO Portrait Painters Back in 2010

The Fort Collins Portrait painters gathered back together for our new year and new decade of painting the faces of Fort Collins. This is Lisa, a photographer from the area.

I was working on a Fabriano • Artistico 140lb hot pressed paper and had some fun pushing color!

Tuesday Evening • Class Demo

This painting was started wet on wet, in order to create soft edges and blended colors. After it began to dry, the background was painted in as a darker negative shape behind the golden lit bushes. The palette was very simple, burnt sienna, french ultramarine blue and quinacridone gold.
